Johnson’s team wins, Reid surges to 2nd at U.S. Championships

Palmer’s Jeremy Johnson and Anchorage’s Jo Reid both came home with major hardware from the American FootGolf League Tour’s U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Florida.

Johnson helped the West Coast Club beat defending champ Oakland 6&2 to win a national title, making a key conversion on the 13th hole to extend the match-play competition.

The Alaskan teamed with Outside players Sharif Khatib, Jordan Godfrey and Nick Wallace for the championship. It was the third title for West Coast.

Johnson, of Palmer High fame, drained a clutch 12-foot putt on the 13th green with the match on the line. The highlight was featured on The PGA channel.

The team title was a sweet redemption for Johnson.

He finished 15th out of 70 players in the men’s individual tournament after carding a 54-hole total of 215.

He was in title contention at 5-under par after the first two days, but then shot a 4-over on the final day in his worst round of the season.

Reid, of East High fame, turned in an incredible final round to surge into second place in the women’s three-day tournament.

She carded a 9-under 63 on the final 18, which included an eagle and eight birdies.

Reid finished with a 54-hole total of 204, one shot off the lead.

She also finished second in 2016. Last year, she won the U.S. Pro-Am title.
