Kendall Kramer

While in Sweden for a Nordic ski camp, Kendall Kramer jumped in a mountain running race.

The skiing and running teenage phenom from Fairbanks placed second in the 13.5-kilometer Ulvang Kvartsmaraton on August 3 in Are, Sweden.

She finished the course in 1 hour, 12 minutes and 34 minutes and was bested only by Norwegian Maria Slars (1:11:44). Kramer was the only American among 159 female finishers.

The event was part of the KIA Fjallmaraton, a weeklong series of mountain and trail running events ranging from a vertical kilometer to 43K.

Kramer, who will soon start her senior year at West Valley High School, was in town for a ski camp with the Offerdals Ski Club.

After achieving spectacular results both in the U.S. and internationally, Kramer was nominated to join the 2019-2020 U.S. Ski Team’s “D Team” last May. She has also won the Mount Marathon Junior Race and numerous Alaska state cross country and track individual championships.
