Anchorage’s Rebecca Syrup put the finishing touches on a dominating performance by the Army-West Point women’s 15s rugby team in a 55-14 win over Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut.

The sophomore scored a five-point try in the 68th minute for her second career “touchdown” of the season in her relatively new rugby career.

Syrup, of West High fame, started playing the sport last year despite zero experience. She was an exceptional flag football player in high school, though.

Army (6-1) finished the league slate with a perfect 4-0 record in NIRA matches and clinched the No. 1 seed in next month’s NIRA Championships on campus in New York.
