A 2020 graduate, Maris Soland was an exceptional three-sport athlete at South Anchorage High School, earning 10 varsity letters (would have been 11 if not for the COVID-19 cancellation of the 2020 track season). She was a captain on South’s first championship flag football team, earning all-conference honors in three different positions (safety, wide receiver, rusher) in her three years of varsity play. Maris was also a four-year varsity starter and two-time CIC all-conference basketball player, and was a member of South’s two-time defending CIC and State champion girls track and field team, representing South at the State meet her first three years of high school in high jump, triple jump and long jump. Maris will be attending the University of Tennessee on an academic scholarship in the pre-med program to pursue her dreams of becoming a pediatric surgeon.
