Jo Reid of Anchorage was named Alaska Athlete of the Week after overcoming quad injuries to both legs to win the women’s American FootGolf League National Championships.

Reid pulled her right quad during a practice round two days before the tournament started, forcing her to work on her left foot. The 45-year-old soccer coach fired a 54-hole total of 216 to beat Oklahoma’s Laura Parker by five shots.

This was Reid’s second national title after winning last year in Virginia and marks the fifth straight year she has finished first or second in the event.

The athlete of the week recipient is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM.
