The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame board of directors decided to postpone the ceremony and banquet honoring the Class of 2020 until April 2022.  A new class of inductees will not be selected this year.

The Class of 2020 had their original induction ceremony cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was initially rescheduled for April 2021 until it became evident covid mitigation restrictions would would make that timeframe impossible.

“It is more important to this right than do this quickly,” said Harlow Robinson, Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Executive Director.  “We’ll wait to hold this event at a time when family, friends and supports can gather together and honor the inductees in the fashion they deserve.”

The Class of 2020 is highlighted by running pioneer Marcie Trent and hockey professional Matt Carle and is joined by the Yukon 800 riverboat race from the event category and the University of Alaska Anchorage’s stunning upset of Boston College in the 1991 NCAA Hockey Tournament from the moment category.
