Anchorage runner Anna Dalton was named Alaska Athlete of the Week after setting a new Equinox Marathon women’s record.

Dalton’s time of 3:07:22 knocked nearly eight minutes off Christy Marvin’s mark of 3:15:06, set in 2018. She was one of four women to run faster than the previous women’s record in one of Alaska’s oldest and most storied footraces

It was the Equinox debut for the West High School graduate and former Occidental College runner The women’s field was so strong that five placed in top-11 overall with Dalton 4th overall.

After dealing with multiple injuries over recent years, the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials competitor said she finally felt healthy coming into the race.

The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Friday and announced publicly Monday morning on our Facebook page.
