Redington High School quarterback Wayde Bowman was named Alaska Athlete of the Week after a career day in a 68-14 victory over Kenai Central.

The 6-foot-4 senior completed 26 of 34 passes, racked up 511 passing yards and threw for eight touchdowns in the win.

He is only the third Alaskan to surpass 500 yards passing in a high school game. Bowman has put up big numbers all season in keeping the Huskies undefeated and with hopes of the school’s first ever state championship.

The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Friday and announced publicly Monday morning on our Facebook page.
