Sunny Bowlin-Stacy

One day Anchorage’s Sunny Bowlin-Stacy is playing all 90 minutes against Grambling State. The next she’s threading the needle with an awesome assist to help beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

That’s just how the freshman forward rolls at Alabama State University.

All three of her points this season have either tied the game or served as game winners.

Bowlin-Stacy, of Bartlett High fame, set up the deciding goal in a 3-1 win over Pine Bluff in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

She rolled a beauty of a pass, threading the needle between four defenders, to feed Janae Brown in stride for a 2-0 lead in the 31st minute.

Bowlin-Stacy got the ball near midfield, took one dribble before feathering a 25-yard pass to a streaking Brown, who chipped the ball off a sliding goalkeeper.

The Alaskan has registered one goal and two assists for four points in 14 appearances. She has started six games.

Bowlin-Stacy is the only player among the top five scorers who has played fewer than 1,000 minutes. She has logged 722, including a season-high 107 minutes against UAB.
