Jeremy Swayman

The shutout Anchorage’s Jeremy Swayman posted Thursday night for the Boston Bruins in Nashville included no shortage of interesting numbers.

The dynamite digits from the masked man:

*His 42 saves in the 2-0 victory marked his career high, surpassing the 40 he made in his NHL debut last spring in beating the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2.

*The shutout was the third of Swayman’s young NHL career – those have come in just 21 starts – and his first this season.

*The shutout marked his first road bagel in the NHL. Swayman’s 3-0 win over the New York Islanders and 4-0 win over the New York Rangers last season both came on home ice.

*Swayman’s 42 saves Thursday were more than his combined save in his previous two shutouts – he stopped 25 against the Islanders and required just 15 to snuff the Rangers.

*Swayman’s work Thursday raised his season save percentage to .921 from .908 and lowered his goals-against average to 2.20 from 2.42.

*Swayman no doubt benefitted from his teammates’ ability to stay out of the penalty box. The Bruins granted just one power play to the Predators, who entered the evening with the league’s sixth-best power play efficiency (25.0 percent).

*Swayman received ample acts of sacrifice from teammates – the Bruins blocked 20 shots, with defensemen Charlie McEvoy (5 blocks) and Derek Forbort (4) leading the way.

*Swayman improved his career record to 14-7-0. Guy wins two out of every three starts. That’ll work.
