Anchorage’s Adam Hendrix enjoyed a springboard year in his poker career in 2021, when he won nearly $1 million in live events.
This year is bringing more of the same.
Hendrix over the weekend won a No-Limit Hold ‘em event at the U.S. Poker Open in Las Vegas to earn $211,200, the second-largest cash of his career.
Inside the last month, Hendrix has cashed in five live events and pocketed nearly $340,000 in live tournament winnings. (Hendrix, like most pros, also plays online)
His U.S. Poker Open victory was a comeback job on the final day. With the field of 88 whittled down to six – each player paid a $10,000 buy-in, or entry fee – Hendrix had the smallest stack to start a day when he finished with all the chips, according to cardplayer.com. When it came to heads-up against Jonathan Little, Little went all in with A-2 to Hendrix’s 8-8. The flop, turn and river cards did not improve either player’s hand, making Hendrix the champ
Hendrix’s $211K haul was second only to the $384K he won in 2019 by finishing runner-up in a European Poker Tour event.
The victory was at least Hendrix’s fourth as a pro, with the last three coming in the last 14 months. It also boosted his total career earnings in live events to the neighborhood of $2.8 million, according to a couple of poker databases.
