Southern Mississippi middle blocker Nyanuer Bidit of Anchorage slammed the door on McNeese with seven blocks, including five in the second set when the 5-foot-10 playmaker took over the NCAA Division I match.
She scored four of her team’s final six points on a kill and three blocks in the middle set to key the Eagles’ 27-25, 25-23, 25-14 win on opening day at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Alabama.
Bidit, of East High fame, recorded nine points in the second set and finished with a .462 attack percentage on 7-of-13 hitting with one error.
In the third set, she posted three kills and two blocks, racking up the 20th and 21st points of the frame.
Bidit didn’t play in the first set – nor did she play all of last season.
In 2020, she recorded season highs of 11 blocks and a .647 attack percentage on 12-of-17 hitting.
