Elizabeth Dubovsky earned Alaska Athlete of the Week honors after an impressive performance at the Resurrection Pass 50-mile footrace on July 30.

The Anchorage runner not only won the women’s division of the.point-to-point run from Cooper Landing to Hope, but she beat all the men to claim the race outright, a feat that hadn’t been accomplished there in 18 years.

She hadn’t raced in three years and had never before run 50 miles

Dubovsky, 39, finished the course in  8 hours, 28 minutes. . She passed men’s winner Jake Young in the second half of the race.

The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
