Kadyn Osborne of Anchorage now owns bragging rights over her older sister after passing her career assist total at Eastern Arizona College.
The sophomore setter ranks No. 3 in the Arizona Community College Athletic Association this season with 227 assists and has racked up 893 for her career.
Big sis Jalyn posted 789 career assists in two seasons at Eastern Arizona in 2019 and 2020. She won ACCAC setter-of-the-year honors her final year and had a personal-best 51 assists in one match.
Kadyn Osborne’s career high is 43 assists.
Osborne, of Dimond High fame, has posted three double-doubles in assists in digs and is averaging 5.2 assists and 2.1 digs per set.
She has orchestrated an offense that has furnished six sweeps in 12 matches as the Gila Monsters lead the conference with eight victories.
In the GNAC, UAF’s Ainsley Smith of North Pole ranks seventh in the NCAA Division II conference with 5.5 assists per set.
The freshman setter has recorded 20 or more assists in nine of 12 matches, keyed by a season-high 28 against Chaminade.
Smith also ranks fourth in the GNAC with 18 aces as the Nanooks are tied with UAA for the league lead in overall wins (10).
