Chugiak High School running standout Campbell Peterson was named Alaska Athlete of the Week after her impressive showing at the ASAA First National Bank of Alaska Cross Country Running Championships.
The senior completed an undefeated season, going 7-for-7 and finishing with a state title, winning the Division 1 race by 20 seconds and clocking the top girls time of the day.
She became the first girls state champion for Chugiak since 1989, leading the Mustangs to their second-consecutive team title.
Peterson was the state runner-up last year.
The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
