Seward’s Lydia Jacoby is already making a splash at the University of Texas.
The freshman breaststroke specialist earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors after posting three podium finishes in her college debut.
The 2020 Olympic champion posted a NCAA-B standard time of 59.93 in the 100-yard breast in a second-place finish behind
teammate Anna Elendt.
Jacoby went on to claim third in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:11.31 and was also part of the 200-yard medley relay that finished second in 1:38.55.
The Longhorns host defending NCAA champion Virginia next weekend.

Last month, Jacoby was one of 31 Olympic medalists named to the 2022-23 roster for the U.S. National Team for the 100- and 200-meter breast.
Even though Jacoby won Olympic gold in the 100 breast, she had to qualify all over again to make this season’s Team USA.
She made the cut after posting a time of 1:06.21 at the International Trials.
Jacoby won gold in the 200 breast at the Monaco stop of the Mare Nostrum Tour, touching the wall in 2:25.98 to earn a second spot with the team.
Jacoby has won seven international medals with Team USA, highlighted by her gold at Olympics and silver at Worlds.
