Ketchikan High track star Jason Lorig was named our Alaska Athlete of the Week after  blazing to the fastest time in Alaska high school history over 100 meters at the Region V Track & Field Championships in Juneau.

The sophomore recorded a time of 10.69 seconds to better the previous all-time state best of 10.76, set by East Anchorage High’s Colton Herman in 2019.

Lorig also excels on the soccer pitch, where he helped the Kings advance to the state tournament.

He’ll be dividing his time May 25-27 between representing Ketchikan at the state track and field championships in Palmer, and at the state soccer championships in Anchorage.

The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
