Travante Williams

The Travante Williams Show took center stage in Game 2 of the Portuguese League Finals.

The 29-year-old swingman from Anchorage bagged 21 points, four rebounds and seven assists to lead Sporting to a 93-87 victory over Benifica in Game 2 of the best-of-5 series.

With the win, Sporting evened the series and inched Williams closer to winning his fourth Portuguese League championship since 2018.

The 6-foot-4 playmaker who swings between guard and forward drained 7-of-14 shots, including 4 for 9 from 3-point land. He also made all three free throws as Sporting outscored Benifica 23-13 from the line.

Williams, of Mt. Edgecumbe High fame, improved to 10-5 all-time in the Portuguese League Finals.

He won the 2021 title with Sporting in five games and led Oliveirense to championships in 2019 and 2018.

The Alaskan has netted 20 points or more five times in the Finals.

His seven assists were second only to his career-high 10 that he dished in Game 1 of the 2021 Finals.

This is his seventh season as a pro in Europe.

After a remarkable rookie season in Georgia, where he produced a 50-point game and was named Import Player of the Year, Williams came to Portugal and pieced together a Hall of Fame career.

He was named Finals MVP in 2021, Portuguese Cup MVP in 2022 and Santos Cup MVP in 2023. He’s also a four-time Portuguese League Defensive Player of the Year winner in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
