Anchorage swimmer Jordan Iverson was selected as our Alaska Athlete of the Week after crossing the English Channel last week to become the first known Alaskan to complete the Triple Crown of open-water marathon swimming.
Iverson has now swam the 20.5-mile English Channel, the 20-mile stretch between the California mainland and Catalina Island, and the 28.5-mile circumnavigation of Manhattan.
Her daylight swim from Dover to Cap Griz Nez took 10 hours, 17 minutes.
Once her Channel swim is certified, Iverson will join a group of about 340 people in the world who have conquered the Triple Crown marathon swim challenge since 1987.
