Anchorage’s Brooke Dexter is knocking on the door of a major milestone and looks to knock it down this week.
The Simon Fraser University senior hitter out of West High enters the Central Washington Invitational needing one more kill to reach 1,000 for her GNAC volleyball career.
Dexter racked up 57 kills in four matches at the San Diego Invite over the weekend, bringing her total to 999 in 83 career matches for the Red Leafs, a NCAA Division II school in Canada.
The 6-foot-2 two-time first team All-GNAC selection would become the third SFU player to reach 1,000 kills, joining Kirsten Pinkney (1,002) and Tessa May (1,167), since the Red Leafs were added to the GNAC in 2010.
Dexter is off to a fast start this season by averaging 3.8 kills per set, her best showing since 2021 when averaged 4.16 as a freshman. Her .270 attack percentage in 2024 is on par with her .275 career average.
Over the weekend, the Alaskan slammed 19, 11, 14 and 13 kills over a four-match span to help Simon Fraser post a 3-1 record.
Dexter and Simon Fraser will be in Anchorage on Nov. 23 when they face the Seawolves at the Alaska Airlines Center. Fittingly, the Anchorage native will be in her hometown for UAA Senior Night that will double as her own.
