Hockey business picks up in the Cook Inlet Conference with two games Tuesday, the first of 12 contests featuring the league’s seven teams during the fourth week of the high school regular season.
Of the dozen scheduled games for the week, eight are of the non-league variety as both Bartlett and Eagle River will soon head out of town. The Golden Bears will play three times in Homer, beginning Thursday as part of the End of the Road Shootout. The Wolves are slated for a trip to The Rock and games at Kodiak on Friday and Saturday.
For the second consecutive season, the Lewis-Palmer High Rangers of Monument, Colo., will visit Southcentral and get in a pair of games. Chugiak welcomes the Rangers to Eagle River’s McDonald Center on Friday night while Service plays Alaska host on Saturday afternoon at Ben Boeke Arena.
Of the league clashes, two should be interesting. Both Chugiak and defending Division I First National Cup state-champion West are undefeated in the early going of CIC play. They faceoff Wednesday night Boeke. The week culminates Saturday with another showdown in the Dimond-South rivalry. Those teams have both had uneven starts to their respective campaigns.
