Alaska Baseball League teams call The Last Frontier home, but seldom does a local player do much on their home turf.
That changed Monday night.
Former East High standout Edison Polanco laced a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Anchorage Glacier Pilots an 8-7 victory over the Anchorage Bucs at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Pilots led 6-0 through six innings before the Bucs caught fire and surged ahead 7-6 entering the ninth. After three walks loaded the bases, the Bucs made a call to the bullpen to face Polanco.
The Rage City native came up clutch with a two-run, two-bagger to give the Pilots the lead, and soon enough, the victory.
Polanco finished 2-for-5, his second two-hit game in three games.
The Pilots also feature Dylan Marx of Sitka. The leadoff hitter played shortstop and scored two runs in the game.
