Yvonne Jeschke of Anchorage shattered the women’s record at the 13th Kesugi Ridge Traverse, completing 31 miles of technical running in Denali State Park in 5 hours, 15 minutes and 14 seconds.
Her performance earned her our Alaska Athlete of the Week honors.
Jeschke, originally from Germany, placed 3rd overall and knocked more than 12 minutes off Christy Marvin’s record from 2018.
The former track athlete at UAA defended her 2024 Kesugi title with the win.

- Fort Yukon Girls Basketball Team – The back-to-back 1A state champion Lady Eagles traveled to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where they played eight games against teams from the area – winning every contest.
- Hunter Sulte– The 23-year-old keeper from Anchorage came up clutch for the Indy Eleven soccer team in a 2-1 victory over FC Tulsa in the final game of group play. The Boys in Blue are one of eight teams out of a 38-team field to advance to the quarterfinals of the USL Jägermeister Cup.
- Travante Williams – The basketball player from Anchorage scored 14 points and dished out 5 assists to lead the Portugal national team back from a 17-point deficit to shock reigning European champion Spain 76-74 in a tuneup game before the upcoming EuroCup.
