Anchorage runner Brady Burrough was voted our Alaska Athlete of the Week after a lights out performance in the 800 meter race at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
The Fort Lewis senior sped to a blistering time of 1 minutes, 48.88 seconds to win his heat, breaking the program record.
He moves up to No. 4 all-time in Alaska history for the 800m.
The South High grad captured silver in the mile at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships last month, earning All-American honors.
- Avi Dashow – The 10-year-old runner from Anchorage finished the Veronia Marathon in Banks, Oregon, in 3:28:26 on Saturday. Running with his father, Jason, Avi’s time ranked 42nd overall among 177 finishers.
- CC Carter – The Mat-Su Valley athlete did it all at the Native Youth Olympics, winning three events and setting a record in the scissor broad jump in addition to finishing top five in two other events.
- Jacob Joanis – The Kenai baseball player was named MVP of the Icebreaker Classic at Bartlett High School. He had five RBIs in the first round, banged out two triples in the second round and struck out 10 in the title game as the Kardinals beat Homer 14-3.
- Mary Jo Landon – Chugiak Mustangs soccer player salvaged a series split with a game-winner from 20 yards out with 90 seconds remaining in stoppage time. She had 3 goals in the series and 16 on the season for the 4-2 Mustangs.
- Sullivan Mack – The Anchorage skater recently completed his first full professional hockey season by earning his second 2025-26 promotion from the AA-level ECHL to the AAA-level AHL.
- Rilen Niclai – The Service baseball player hit three home runs in six at-bats across two games. He opened the season with a homer against Eagle River and then hit two against West, becoming the first Cook Inlet Conference player to do that since 2019.
- Joshua Woko – The Mountain City Christian Academy athlete senior jumped 45 feet in the triple jump at the Homer Invitational, moving into 9th place all-time for Alaska preps. Woko also won the long jump in 20′-1.5”.
