Service baseball player Rilen Niclai earned our Alaska Athlete of the Week honors after hitting two home runs in a game for the second time this season.
The senior now has five homers on the season to break the Cook Inlet Conference single-season record.
The Arizona State signee is batting .833 in the last five games on 10-for-12 hitting with four extra-base hits, seven RBIs and 12 runs scored.
- Corde Bates – The Dimond track standout won the long jump at the Anchorage Invite, leaping to a colossal mark of 22 feet, 6 inches, becoming No. 7 long jumper in Alaska prep history.
- Kamaka Hepa – The pro basketball player out of Utqiaġvik recorded a season-high 21 points to help his Croatian team Cibona win 84-74 and move into a second-place tie in the league standings on the eve of the playoffs.
- Vivien Liessfeld – The UAA track standout won the long jump and heptathlon at the GNAC Championships, in addition to scoring points in the high jump, 100 hurdles and 4×100 relay to lead the Seawolf women to a third-place showing.
- Taylor Passard – The Colony softball player extended her hitting streak to 18 games and helped the Knights beat Dimond, Bartlett and West by a combined score of 44-1. Passard went 5-for-9 last week with a pair of home runs.
