Adarra Hagelund was voted our Alaska Athlete of the Week after soaring to new heights in Fargo, N.D., clearing a jaw-dropping 5 feet, 11.25 inches to win the NDSU Tune Up.
The Dickinson State senior from Soldotna reset her own program record, conference record and Alaska record, all while becoming the third-best high jumper in NAIA outdoor history.
Hagelund netted her 34th collegiate win in the event.

- Royce Borst – The Skagway senior set the state’s “highest” mark of the season as he cleared the bar with a personal best six feet three inches in the boys high jump at the Juneau Invitational, setting a new meet record.
- Taylor Eddington – The Tri Valley High School sprinter was spectacular at the Region II Track & Field Championships, winning four individual titles. The senior from Healy’s time in the 300 hurdles ranks third in Alaska prep history.
- Juneau Douglas HS Girls’ Relay – A quartet of Crimson Bear sophomores set a state best in the 4×100 relay at Juneau’s Capital City Invitational, clocking a time of 51.01 seconds. Addie Hartman, Shandiin Frommherz, Mya Hayes and Bella Connally averaged 12.75 seconds for each of their legs.
- Isaiah Moses – The basketball player from Anchorage scored 33 points Friday for the Perry Lakes Hawks in Australia’s NBL1 to hike his per-game average to 24.4 through five games.
- Clare Mullin – The track standout from Sitka won the 1,500 at the West Coast Last Chance Meet in a blistering 4 minutes, 21.36 seconds. The time moves the Gonzaga freshman into fifth in program history and fourth in Alaska history.
- Daishen Nix – The Anchorage pro player came off the bench to score 22 points in 14 minutes and lead tenth-seeded Shanxi to a 92-90 upset win over No. 1 Guangsha in Game 1 of the best-of-3 quarterfinal series of the Chinese Basketball Association playoffs.
- Dereck Ortega – The Dimond soccer player extended his scoring streak to eight games with a beautiful goal to help the Lynx (13-0-01) remain undefeated with a 3-1 victory over East. The senior has 21 goals this season.
- Sela Rodriguez – The East softball player matched her career high with 16 strikeouts and hit a two-run homer in a 5-1 win over Chugiak and then recorded 11 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a triple and double in a 6-4 win over West.
- Jayden Stuyvesant – The Soldotna baseball player batted .600 on 6-for-10 hitting with three doubles, a triple and eight RBIs as the Stars went undefeated on their three-game roadie to Rage City.
- Helen Wilson – The former UAA skier from Eagle River won the women’s Gold Nugget Triathlon on Sunday, two weeks after breaking her hand and less than a week after surgery.
