Have passport, will travel. And dribble, shoot and dunk.

Vante Hendrix of Anchorage has been a globetrotter in his five years as a professional basketball player after lacing ’em up in six countries, but this season was especially busy for the former West Eagles standout.

The 28-year-old started the season in Saudi Arabia, where he played for four months before going to Jordan for two months and winning a championship. Three days later, he was in Lebanon trying to win another one.

Overall, he averaged 22.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 33 games across three leagues, recorded a triple-double and bagged a Finals MVP award.

Hendrix, a 6-foot-5 guard, opened the season on Oct. 3 in Saudi Arabia with an 18-point, 12-rebound performance. A month later, he produced 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory.

He went on to average 24.6 points, with scoring highs of 39, 39, 39 and 38 points. He had three games with 15 rebounds and another with 14. He dished off nine assists three times with a high of 10. He also had one game with six steals and two others with five.

Hendrix was a one-man show, but his team, Mudhar, couldn’t match his excellence and finished two games out of the final playoff spot. His season was far from over, however, and he didn’t even need to leave the Middle East.

In March, he signed with Amman United in Jordan as a hired gun for the playoffs. Hendrix fit in with his new squad immediately as he bagged 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in his debut, all coming in a 129-52 rout.

Led by the Alaskan, Amman United swept opponents in best-of-3 series in each of the first two rounds in Jordan’s Premier League playoffs to reach the best-of-5 Finals.

After getting its clock cleaned by 35 points in Game 1 despite a strong effort by Hendrix, Mudhar rallied to even the series by taking Game 2, 116-102, although Hendrix finished with just five points, the first time all season that he failed to reach double figures.

And as if things couldn’t get worse for him, his team lost Game 3 and was the on the verge of losing the series. That is, before Hendrix flipped the script.

Mudhar won Game 4 and then held off Al Faisaly 88-77 in the decisive Game 5 behind the Alaskan’s big game of 34 points on 13-for-23 shooting to go with eight rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot.

He didn’t celebrate long, though, as three days later he was on the court in Lebanon in an effort to pocket another title. He joined his new team, Hoops, near the end of the regular season and then in Game 1 of the playoffs pumped in 22 points on 7-for-9 shooting to put his club in the best-of-5 series.

The good times didn’t last, though, after his playoff prowess came to an end with a 68-63 loss in Game 4 to Al Markaziyyah, despite 28 points from Hendrix on 11-for-19 shooting.

The guy was money in the playoffs in three different leagues, showcasing his all-court talent and winning game, which should come as no surprise to anybody in Alaska.

In 2015, Hendrix was part of a star-studded West team that won a Class 4A state title. Three players from that team (Hendrix, brother Devonaire Doutrive along with Brandon Huffman) went on to play at the Division I level, while Da’Zhon Wyche finished top 10 on Alaska’s all-time college scoring list and Darian Lawson is one of the state’s hottest coaches in high school basketball with the Bartlett girls.
