After earning Alaska player-of-the-year honors earlier this month, South flag football quarterback Jillian Preston is now an All-American.

The senior signal caller this week was named to the inaugural MaxPreps All-America Team, earning a spot on the third team.

Preston was the state’s top passer with 3,564 yards and 56 touchdowns, and led the Wolverines to their first ASAA state championship last fall.

A total of 36 players were picked for the All-America Team — a dozen each for the first, second and third teams — plus honorable mention. North Pole’s Jade Skipps was an honorable mention pick, giving Alaska two of the 60 players honored nationally.

Preston pushed South over the top in the state tournament, posting a 9-1 TD-to-INT ratio and completing 60% of her pass attempts for an average of 176 yards in three games.

The right-handed passer shattered her previous school record for single-season passing yards (2,726), in addition to throwing for 16 more TDs than her junior season.

In 2024, Preston led South to a 13-0 victory over Louisiana state champion De La Salle 13-0 at the Nike Football Kickoff Classic in Beaverton, Oregon.

She never let her foot off the gas petal since then, winning 24 of 31 starts and emerging as one of the greatest passers in Alaska history, which dates back to 2006 for flag football.

Preston will take her talents to Saginaw Valley State University, where she will help the NCAA Division II school usher in a new era of flag football in the spring of 2027.

In the last two seasons, Preston passed for 6,290 yards, rushed for 650 yards and accounted for 105 TDs.

Skipps — the 2025 MaxPreps Player of the Year — rushed for 3,081 yards and 21 TDs for North Pole last season as a junior. She also threw for 490 yards and four scores.
