Defending state runner-up Colony asserted itself as one of the top prep volleyball teams this season after winning the Chugiak Invitational over the weekend.
The Knights rallied to beat the Palmer Moose 22-25, 25-16, 16-14 in Saturday’s title match at Chugiak High School.
Multi-sport star Taylor Passard led the way with six kills, 12 digs and one ace, while Emily DeHart had 16 assists, 14 digs and three kills. Sophia Allen added five kills and Hailey Biorn and Callan Knutsen each had four kills for Colony (8-1).
Palmer’s Rainee Reiter slammed eight kills and Riley Jenski had 21 assists, while Kasey Frank had 12 digs and Laekyn Leroux 10. The Moose slipped to 6-2.
