University of Michigan freshman goalkeeper Brooklyn Reid made her first collegiate start in goal in a 1-0 win over Bowling Green, recording three saves and earning her first shutout, earning our Alaska Athlete of the Week honors.
The Anchorage native didn’t face any shots on goal in the first half, but Bowling Green poured it on in the second half, forcing Reid to make stops in the 72nd, 84th and 86th minute.
The 5-foot-11 Alaskan made her college debut Thursday in a 1-1 draw against Notre Dame, coming on for starting keeper Coda Jones in the final minute of regulation.

- Miriam Armstrong and Katahdin Staples – East’s Staples and West Valley’s Armstrong sped to impressive victories at the State Preview on the Bartlett High Ski Trails.
- Bella Burney – The UAA volleyball player was named Most Outstanding Player of the Seawolf Invitational after slamming 35 kills in three matches on a eye-popping .492 attack percentage.
- Koda Lepule – The all-state lineman for Soldotna anchored a defense that allowed just 12 yards on 15 carries to Star Valley in a matchup of top-ranked teams from Alaska and Wyoming respectively.
- Bri Parrent – The Colony sophomore flag football player threw for 303 yards and 6 touchdowns, ran 10 times for 112 yards and 3 scores, and had two pick 6’s on defense in an 81-0 win over Palmer.
- Cole Stumpf – The West Valley football player scored on an 82-yard kickoff return, intercepted a pass on defense, kicked a 25-yard field goal and completed a pass for a first down on a fake punt against Bartlett.
- Parker Sullivan – The sophomore midfielder from Anchorage bagged her first college goal for Idaho State to fuel a 2-0 road win over Cal State Bakersfield of the Big West.
