 Pro skater Preston Pollard of Anchorage [center] recently completed a broadcasting internship with skateboard pioneer Tony Hawk [left] at the X Games in Los Angeles. Pollard is spending more time off his board these days, modeling for clients such as Tilly’s, Forever 21 and Sony, and talking with kids as a motivational speaker. “Skateboarding has always been a part of my life, but one thing that is more important to me is giving back,” Pollard told me. “I’ve been doing it since I was 18 and it started in Anchorage. I just got back from Australia. I also spoke at the Boys and Girls Club national conference in Atlanta and most recently spoke in Compton, Calif., for the Sheriff’s youth foundation.” |
