Tyler Swinton of Haines sits 10th out of 29 in the men’s field as Oregon Tech holds a 23-stroke lead in the team competition at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Oregon.
Today’s first day of the conference championships features back-to-back rounds of 18 holes. Tomorrow’s second round is 18 holes.
Swinton, of Haines High fame, shot 82 the first round and then came back with a 77 — the third-lowest round in the tournament.
The senior is shooting for his seventh top-10 finish in eight tournaments this season.
His low round is 70.
