The 23-year-old beat previously undefeated fighter Austin Mariscal of Washington in the men’s 141-point division.
“Mariscal was 16-0, so the crowd was anticipating a good fight,” Delgado told me. “I took both the first and third round with a close second round that could’ve went either way.”
Deldago, of East High fame, also won his weight class at the Tacoma Golden Gloves last year.
He also won a junior Golden Gloves title in 2010.
“I’ve been fighting for a long time now,” he said.
Delgado trains with the Alaska Boxing Academy and was joined at the Tacoma Golden Gloves with teammate Renzehl Velasco, who won the 108-pound championship.
