Anchorage’s Logan Williams of Robert Morris University of Illinois qualified and then won his first bracket match at the U.S. Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championship in Dayton, Ohio.

The senior right-hander finished 12th in a 24-man qualifying round after he posted a six-game total of 1,200 pins (200 average).

The 24 men and 24 women earned spots in this event through sectional qualifying and used six games of qualifying to determine the bracket for match play. The top eight qualifiers received a first-round bye.

Williams, of Bartlett High fame, defeated Michael Pruchnik of St. Francis-Illinois 675-506 to advance in match play.
