Sean Rash
Anchorage’s Sean Rash was perfect when the moment called for it, and now he is closer to winning the biggest first-place prize of the season after advancing in the PBA Playoffs.
The 13-time Tour champion threw strikes on all four balls in the two-frame tiebreaker format to edge Dom Barrett 2-1 in the Race to 2 Points quarterfinal match in Portland, Maine.
The players split the two-game series, with Barrett winning Game 1 226-205 and Rash winning Game 2 268-253. That forced a ninth and tenth frame tiebreaker, which Rash won 60-40.
Rash became the first bowler in this year’s PBA Playoffs to post a perfect score in the tiebreaker.

Rash, of Dimond High fame, will participate in this weekend’s final four to battle for the $100,000 first-place prize.
One more victory would push into him into his third finals appearance this season. He finished second in the PBA Lubbock Sports Open and won the Roth-Holman Doubles Championship with Matt Ogle.
The former Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year Award winner from Alaska owns two of the PBA Tour’s 25 televised 300 games.
