East Anchorage High School’s Khiana Smith had an outstanding softball career with the Thunderbirds. The pitcher and shortstop was named to the All State team in 2018 and 2019, and helped the Thunderbirds win a state championship both years. As a sophomore in 2018, she was a key player on a squad that went 33-0 and and outscored its opponents 330-47. One of her highlights was carrying her team to a state championship victory in 2019 by racking up 3 hits, 4 RBI, and two runs scored. Her senior season was canceled due to COVID-19. Khiana will be attending Adams State University on a softball scholarship and plans to study criminal justice.
