Ashley  McDonald was a four-year softball player at Soldotna High School who lead her team through her play both offensively and defensively.  Her softball IQ and understanding of the game allowed her to impact the game in many ways: leadoff hitter, stalwart shortstop, shut down catcher, and dynamic base runner.  She was named Northern Lights Conference First Team in 2018 and was the 2019 Soldotna Softball Defensive Player of the Year.   Stars head coach Kelli Knoebel had this to say: “Ashley held herself to high standards and pushed herself to get better each and every day so that she could help her team win. Ashley has a love for the game that pushed her to extend her range defensively, to fine tune her approach at the plate recognizing that as a leadoff hitter, getting on base was her goal.” Ashley will end her high school softball career with a .964 fielding percentage, a career batting average of .544, and a .724 on base percentage.”
