Jack Green

There is clutch. And then there is Jack Green of Anchorage.

The American University men’s soccer player scored a goal with four seconds left in overtime to propel the Eagles to a 2-1 victory over Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania.

The junior midfielder cleaned up a loose ball off an offensive rebound in front of the net for his second career goal.

American remained unbeaten at 2-0-2 when the Alaskan registers a point.

Green, of West High fame, has a flair for the dramatic on the soccer field.

Just last week, his assist off a corner kick set up the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of overtime to supply a 2-1 win over Army West Point.

At last season’s NCAA Tournament, he scored in a regulation and again in the shootout as American beat Jacksonville 4-3 for its first postseason win since 2004.

Maybe most impressive in his production is the fact he while coming off the bench.

Green has averaged just 34.1 minutes per game in his last 22 appearances with the NCAA Division I team.
