Race Rome

Anchorage’s Race Rome has helped Rogue Community College men’s soccer team make school history.

Rogue upset previously unbeaten Peninsula College 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the NWAC Championships and has advanced to the final four for the first time.

Rome, a freshman midfielder, started the second half and played all 45 minutes.

The loss snapped Peninsula’s 16-game unbeaten streak.

Rogue improved to 10-2-2- and will face Highline College on Friday for a chance to play for a NWAC title.

Rome, of West High fame, has two goals for four points in 10 games, mostly coming off the bench. He has one start under his belt.

The Alaskan bagged both goals in a 5-1 win over Southwestern Oregon when he scored in the 13th and 33rd minutes.
