Angelline Nageak

Anchorage’s Angelline Nageak jumpstarted the Adams State University women’s basketball team, scoring or assisting on 14 of the first 22 points.

The quick start carried the Grizzlies to a 91-55 win over SAGU in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Nageak, of Dimond High fame, collected season highs in points (12), field goals (5), rebounds (3), assists (4). She also had three steals, one shy of her season high.

Her 4-0 assist-to-turnover ratio was also a season high.

This was the third time in 17 career games that the Alaskan scored double figures for the NCAA Division II school. She is averaging 6.8 points per game, up from 5.7 last season.

Nageak’s aggressive playmaking skills ignited her team’s quick start as she posted four points, one assist and two steals in the first 2:37.

Nyeniea John

Adams State transfer Nyeniea John of Anchorage scored eight points in eight minutes coming off the bench.

She made a season-high 3-of-5 shots and grabbed a season-high three rebounds.

John, of West High fame, came to ASU from Eastern Arizona, where she averaged 6.5 points on 40 percent shooting and helped lead her team to 21 wins.
