Da_Zhon Wyche

The state of Alaska’s active career scoring leader among college basketball players just passed a major benchmark.

Anchorage’s Da’Zhon Wyche scored 10 points in 16 minutes for the University of Texas Tyler in a 100-47 rout of Dallas Christian in NCAA Division II men’s action. This gives him a career total of 1,200 on the nose – good enough for 26th on Alaska’s all-time college scoring list.

Wyche recently passed Damon Sherman-Newsome (1,183) and Devon Bookert (1,120). Just ahead of Wyche are players like Jason Erickson (1,227), Colter Lasher (1,250) and Tony Turner (1,289).

Just a reminder: Erickson was a NCAA All-American at Montana State; Lasher played professionally in Australia and Germany; Turner was an NBA draft pick.

Wyche is likely to pass all of them.

The 5-foot-9 senior starting guard is averaging 8.3 points in three games for Texas Tyler. He played his first two seasons at Laramie County Community College.
