Isaiah Moses

Anchorage’s Isaiah Moses carried the nation’s fifth-ranked NJCAA team to victory after spearheading College of Southern Idaho’s 103-95 OT win over visiting Laramie County.

In the breakout performance of his college career, Moses pumped in 28 of his team’s 62 points after halftime to keep the Golden Eagles perfect on the season at 11-0.

The freshman starter out of Dimond High finished the game with season highs in points (31), rebounds (7), assists (8), steals (3) and minutes (42).

The 6-foot-1 guard was 4-of-7 from 3-point land and 11-of-12 from the foul line, making more free throws than the entire Laramie team.

Moses scored 17 of his team’s final 27 points, including a layup that put CSI up 89-86 with 30 seconds left in regulation and the first and last points of OT.

The Alaskan is averaging 12.6 pints, 3.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 11 games.

Traivar Jackson

In Arizona, Anchorage’s Traivar Jackson furnished a season-high 23 points and four steals to go with a career-high eight blocked shots for Pima Community College in a 110-99 victory over Phoenix.

Jackson (West) added four rebounds and four assists as Pima moved to 6-0 in the ACCAC.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore NJCAA All-American has 95 blocked shots in 34 career games.

His eight blocks are believed to be the most for an Alaskan at the college level since Kodiak 7-footer Nick Billings had 10 for Binghamton in 2003.

Jackson is averaging 16.1 points and 3.5 blocked shots in six games this season. He also surpassed the 650-point career benchmark.

At Lower Columbia College, Wasilla’s Jazlynn Novelli is off to a sensational start as the sophomore is averaging a career-best 17.0 points per game and shooting 52% from 3-point land.

The 5-foot-9 guard is 10-of-19 from downtown in four games after going 2-for-4 in a 77-69 victory over Clackamas.

Novelli (Wasilla) is scoring 7 points better than last season, in part because her minutes have climbed from 16 to 28 for the NWAC school.

Last season she had high games of 26 and 25 points. Maybe most important, she scored 11 points in the NWAC championship game when LCC edged Peninsula 76-75.

Clayton Southwick

At Snow College, Palmer’s Clayton Southwick went 6-of-8 from 3-point land and finished with 21 points and six rebounds in a 70-66 loss to Arizona Western.

He made 7-of-10 shots from the floor and is now shooting 50% on the season (42-of-84).

Two nights later, he reached the 500-point career benchmark.

Southwick (Palmer) is averaging a career-high 7.0 rebounds in nine games. Two weeks ago, he grabbed 16 rebounds against Central Wyoming.

Jason Montes

At South Puget Sound, Delta Junction’s Jason Montes played a game-high 38 minutes and scored 17 points as the Clippers won their first game with a 96-87 win over Olympic in the NWAC.

He played the entire second half and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line over the final 46 seconds as South Puget Sound closed out the game.

Montes (Delta) finished 10-of-11 at the foul line. He is averaging 12.2 points in five games with a high of 21.
