PJ Foy of Juneau was named Alaska Athlete of the Week after a dominant performance at the 2022 ASAA state swimming and diving championships.

Despite not being able to practice due to illness all week leading up to the state meet,he Thunder Mountain High School junior won the 200 Freestyle and set a new state record in the 100 Butterfly.

His 100 Butterfly time of 48.46 broke a record that stood since 2008. His 200 Freestyle time was just shy of the state record.

Foy earned state titles in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke as a sophomore but wanted to compete in different disciplines this year.

The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
