Kevin Daniels

Tied for fourth after the first round of the American International College Invitational, Anchorage’s Kevin Daniels needed to play the best golf of his life to have a chance to win.

He nearly pulled it off.

Daniels, of South High fame, fired a career-low 2-under 70 in the final round at the par-72 Ludlow Country Club in Ludlow, Mass., to finish one shot behind the winner.

He finished second at the AIC Golf Classic last year.

His runner-up effort helped the Yellow Jackets clinch the team title over six other schools by five strokes.

He finished with a 36-hole score of 145.

It was also one stroke off his career-low 36-hole total on a par-70 course, coming close to the 144 [73-71] he carded last year at the Northeast Intercollegiate Championships.
