Christine Henie

Chugiak’s Christine Henie helped Western Washington continue one of the least recognized but most remarkable streaks in college sports.

The Vikings today finished third in the team standings at the NCAA D2 Women’s Rowing Championships in Indianapolis.

Western Washington has now finished in the top three at every national tournament since its inception in 2002.

Henie, of Chugiak High fame, is the starting bow in Western Washington’s varsity eight, the premier team.

Last year, she was a second-team all-star as the Vikings placed second at nationals.

In 2011, she was part of Western Washington’s national title winner.
