Beau Kittredge ultimate disc frisbee

Beau Kittredge

Alaska is known for hockey, dog mushing and skiing.

Ultimate disc, though? Not so much.

Beau Kittredge of Fairbanks is changing that perception as the best player of the American Ultimate Disc League.

The rookie won MVP honors last season with the San Jose Spiders and is credited with the ‘Best Sky Catch in Ultimate Frisbee.’

The 2015 season starts today.

Last year, Kittredge was the only player in the AUDL to collect more than 30 assists, goals and blocks. That proves how versatile and valuable he is on the 100-yard field.

Kittredge, of Lathrop High fame, won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2013 World Games.

Alaska actually produces quite a few high-level ultimate players, including Chris Kosednar of Anchorage and Jodan Jeffrey of Barrow.

Kosednar played in 2014 with the AUDL’s San Francisco Revolver and enjoyed a standout season as the primary wheel in their offense. The team won titles at the US Open, the Southwest Regional and the World Club Championships.

Kosednar, of East High fame, has never forgotten his roots. He still comes back to his hometown in the summer to participate in local pickup games and play in tournaments.
