Chris Kosednar
Kittredge was one of three Alaskans to claim the title; the other two being Anchorage’s Chris Kosednar and Barrow’s Jordan Jeffery.
The Revolver beat the Seattle Sockeye 15-9 in the final in Frisco, Texas.
Kittredge, of Lathrop High fame, finished with three goals and an assist. It’s the kind of strong performance you’d expect from a former MVP of the American Ultimate Disc League.
He has the reputation for stepping up in big games and this was no different. He also has a knack for making highlight-reel catches and his first goal was something special when he skied over two defenders to grab the disc in traffic.
It was the kind of play that showed why many people consider Kittredge to be one of the best ultimate players in the game. This season, though, he has been slowed by injury.
“I was a little scared headed into the game,” he told ultiworld.com. “I was scared that maybe if I laid out my rib would pop out, or I would be hesitant to go up in the air. But after I made a couple big plays I knew I was good. I was going to be able to play.”
The San Francisco Revolver went 7-0 in the tournament and outscored the opposition 103-66.
The Alaskan contingent combined for 13 goals.
Kittredge was tied for third on the team with nine while Kosednar and Jeffery each had two.
Kosednar also had four assists.
Kosednar’s stats don’t tell his full story, however.
He’s the cog of the offense, touching the disc every other throw up the field. His overall completion rate has to be plus 90 percent.
