kristie-elaine-alora-1When Kirstie Elaine Alora of the Philippines qualified for the Olympics in taekwondo, parents Pablito and Marilou of Southwest Alaska naturally wanted to go watch their daughter compete at the Rio Games. It’s a lot of money to travel that far, though.

That’s when Peter Pan Seafoods helped make reality another Olympic dream.

The Alaska fish cannery picked up the family’s airfare to Texas, where they then flew to Brazil.

“We are very proud of our daughter. These are the Olympics and not every athlete could qualify for these Games,” the father told the Philippine Star. “Everywhere me and my wife go in Alaska, we look like stars ourselves. Everybody wants to shake our hands. In fact, our production and plant managers printed a picture of Elaine and posted it everywhere in the cannery.”
