Kari Hancock
The senior rider managed to accomplish many awards and accolades in her final season, most notably team MVP honors, Big 12 Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.
The achievement award is the Big 12 Conference’s highest academic honor given to student athletes with a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Hancock was one of just two equestrian riders to receive the honor this year.
Hancock, of South High fame, is an All-America and All-Academic performer in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association.
This year she earned first-team honors for Equitation on the Flat. Hancock is the first rider in TCU history to earn two first-team All-American honors on the Hunt Seat side. She was also a first-team member in Equitation on the Flat in 2015.
She is just the third rider in school history to earn first-team All-American honors on the Hunt Seat side.
Hancock is the only TCU rider from Alaska, which only adds to her legacy.
None of the other colleges wanted her on their equestrian team, but TCU took a chance and the rest is history.
Hancock has also been accepted into the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, where she will attend starting in August after graduating from TCU with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology and a GPA of 3.97.
She also received an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship.
