Anchorage’s Logan Williams helped the Robert Morris University bowling team place second at the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The junior transfer tied for 97th out of 227 finishers in the men’s competition, the first meet of the college bowling season.

Williams, of Bartlett High fame, averaged a score of 184.5 in five games with a high of 220.

Robert Morris had the second-best team score among the 20 colleges that participated.

“We are really good this year,” he told me, “and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Williams finished ninth on his team – a far cry from his days at Iowa Central when he was inarguably his team’s top dog.

Last year, he won a NJCAA national championship in doubles and finished second to his partner for the individual national title.

But this is why he came to Robert Morris, which in 2013 won the NAIA national title and USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships national title.

“RMU has a great bowling program with some one of the best coaches in the nation,” Williams said. “It’s more like a big family, which is a great feeling being away from home.”

Williams is majoring in business administration.
